At Will Employment

At Will Employment in Chester County PA

In Pennsylvania, most employees in West Chester PA and Chester County are considered to be At-will employees unless the employee is a contracted employee and termination procedures are clearly stated in the contract.  This means that an employer can terminate any employee for whatever reason that they chose as long as the person being terminated is not a member of a protected class of citizen and they are not being terminated because they are a member of that class (i.e. race, religion, sex, national origin, etc.)  Severance payment is not mandatory in an at-will state.

But just because you live and work in a state such as Pennsylvania that has laws that protect employers does not mean that a skilled fighter and former prosecutor like West Chester PA employment attorney Steve Jarmon can not fight for you and your family.  He can!  Schedule an appointment to meet with Mr. Jarmon in one of our Chester County locations in West Chester, Exton or Kennett Square PA.

Even when you are employed at-will, an employer can not violate your civil rights, can not illegally discriminate against you, can not discharge you for filing a legal claim such as a claim for workers compensation, can not retaliate against you for reporting a safety violation or by making a complaint of illegal discrimination or harassment.  Speak to Steve Jarmon today to discuss whether you have a wrongful discharge or wrongful termination claim.
